Jamaican designers: Modish Studios Trunk Show

Camesha Powell

This info popped into my inbox early this morning and I decided to check it out shortly before my usual Saturday supermarket run. Keneea and Camesha were some of the first local designers that supported me and my idea of having a fashion blog, inviting me to all their fashion shows and doings interviews with me back when most people didn’t know what a blog was and didn’t want to work with a small fry like myself. I love their designs and I’m happy that both continue to make great fashion, expanding Jamaican’s offerings. They inspire me to pursue my own.

MODISH STUDIOS is a fashion and style boutique that will offer clothing and accessories for females and in the near future males and children. I caught up with Camesha who’s currently pursuing her masters degree in global fashion in New York. She was excited about this and told me how much she was loving New York and loving her studies but at the same time missing Jamaica and wanting to be here to continue expanding the line. Oh to be two places at once. The studio opens just before the Christmas season arrives but you can visit the trunk show which continues tomorrow if you want to catch some of these fabulous pieces. They’re showing at 2-4 Abbeydale Road. Go support your local designers! Much of the clothing in these pics I took were all locally made. I wish I had brought along my sample sized sis to try some of them on for you as these pics do them little justice.
