Five Jamaicans among Caribbean Fashion Designers to show at London Fashion Week
I’ve gotten two press releases recently that shared some very exciting information. There will be a showing of Caribbean collections at this year’s London Fashion Week and five Jamaicans are among the lot!
From the Caribbean Collections about page:
The Carribbean Collections Exhibition takes place on 17th and 18th February at The Regency Suite, Charing Cross Hotel 10am-5pm.
The Caribbean Collections is brought to London fashion week by Caribbean Export Development Agency (CEDA) and Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO)
The exhibition will culminate in a private dinner with International fashion and musical icon, Grace Jones.
Oh how I would have loved to be there! How glamorous, I can imagine now the iconic Grace Jones commanding that room. A list of the designers that will be showing can be found here but amazingly there are 5 Jamaicans among the lot which include Gavin Douglas, drennaLUNA, Sandra Kennedy, Julan and jewellery line Peace-is of Bianca. Of the five, all are still based in Jamaica I believe except Gavin Douglas who lives in London.
The incomparable Meiling of Trinidad will be showing as well as other designers from Haiti, Barbados and the Dominican Republic.
As soon as I get my hands on pictures I’ll be sure to share. If you’re in London, you should go!

That’s neat! This I would go to see.
