I have been natural now since February 2012 so should be able to call myself an expert…at my own hair. My regimen hasn’t changed much at all since this post. What I have gotten ultra lazy about is deep conditioning. I don’t deep condition nearly as often as I used to in the good old days of product junkie-ism and deep condition mixing. Because of this, I have had to cut my ends more than I would have liked to. Womp! I still cleanse my hair once per week. I am a big cowash believer and usually only shampoo my hair once a month to get rid of buildup however Cantu’s leave-in conditioner has been a staple of mine forever so I thought I’d pick up the sulfate-free shampoo one day.
So happy I did! I’m not sure I buy into the whole idea that sulfates are ultra damaging to the hair. Moderation is key and like I said, I only shampooed my hair maybe once per month. I thought, well, this couldn’t hurt, and picked up their sulfate free to give it a toss as I knew my hair was needing something new. It was definitely getting used to my Herbal Essences Hello Hydration and wasn’t giving me the results I was used to.
This product was a dream! Ever since growing out my hair, I’ve stopped trying to detangle in the shower because it took too long to do with conditioner only but the Cantu Cleansing Cream Shampoo sorted out all my tangles like butta baby! I couldn’t believe how easy it was to finger comb through my hair the first few times I have used it. Now I must warn you that some people say it dries their hair out a lot but I think its worth the try. If you find it drying then simply use it only once a month to remove build up like I used to do with regular old Suave shampoos. I use this product every week and I’m a happy camper, no dried out tresses for me. I still follow up with all these products as they still work remarkably well for my hair and you know the saying…if it ain’t broke!
These products can be found in Jamaica so maybe that’s why I’ve stuck to them and not bothered to try out any new products. But! I’m currently testing a deep conditioner I bought online! These two, know them? Thoughts? What’s your fave?
