Caribbean Fashion Week 2013 Highlights: Night Two

Posted by on in Fashion | 1 comment

Caribbean Fashion Week 2013 held in Kingston, Jamaica really had it’s peak on Saturday night. That’s what is expected when your headliner is Kelly Rowlands and crowd favourites such as Kaysian Bourke and Barry Moncrieffe are showing. I must start off by saying how disappointed I was in Kelly’s outfit. She performed at a fashionweek looking like she was ’bout to go pick the kids up at a rock n roll playground.

Child please. And who comes to paradise and doesn’t post pics on IG? No performance pics, barely any word about Jamaica… did she hang out with fans afterwords? Girl….

Caribbean Fashion Week 2013, Night One – Highlights

Posted by on in Fashion | 6 comments

Caribbean Fashion Week 2013 has come and gone and my, what a weekend! I’ll be doing highlight posts of each night and then breaking out into spotlights on some of my favourite lines from the show, so let’s get right into it! Friday night was dubbed emerging designers night and saw many new designers mixed with a few familiar faces showing off their designs. I kept my outfit cute and casual for the opening night in a studded, oxblood, chiffon button-up with a bodycon skirt that’s not so bodycon anymore *hi5 for green smoothies*

Christina Goddard from Barbados gave me life with some of her pieces, this was one of my favourites of the night:

Now trending: Single strap sandals and skater skirts

Posted by on in Fashion | 0 comments

When did we start calling them skater skirts? Aren’t they known as circle skirts? Anyhow big girls and skinny girls love this trend for pretty much the same reason. It’s flirty and girl and accentuates the body nicely, no matter what your shape. Here, my favourite plus size gal Gabi Fresh rocks a long version for those of us more modest with out legs:

And you already saw my take on the trend here in a similar outfit to Gabi’s

5 Summer Vacation and Staycation Ideas for 2013

Posted by on in Jamaica, Travel | 2 comments

So it’s become tradition for me and fam to find a sweet spot in Jamaica and hide for at least a weekend, maybe more every August or December. I started to think about where we may escape to this year and decided that I’d compile a list of cool places you should visit, whether home or abroad. Get out and gather new experiences, the world awaits! And as small as the island is, there are many nooks and crannies right here at home to enjoy so if you can’t make it on a plane don’t worry, enjoy your island paradise right yah so a yuh yawd.

Kool Runnings Water Park

Kool Runnings Water Park, Negril Jamaica

I’m ashamed to say that the last time I went to Negril was in 2008, even though I came close on this trip to Grand Palladium in 2011. That 7 mile stretch is calling my name and so is the water park! I’ve been already, but I can’t wait to bring my little munchkin! I think she will lose her mind, no doubt about it! The rides were insane and they have little kiddie versions that I hope I can convince my little scaredy cat to try out. Have you been to Kool Runnings yet? They just reopened for the summer season!

Product Review: Tropic Isle Living, All-Natural, All-Jamaican [video]

Posted by on in Hair and Beauty | 1 comment

hcsNt__37174.1360153682.300.360 Hola! I’m back at y’all with another review of one of my staple product lines. I had no idea they had a whole line of products, I purchase their black castor oil all the while and they reached out to me with some of their other items for review. I got three products, one bombed, one was a winner only for munchkin’s hair and you know I prefer products that do double duty and one knocked it out of the park. As usual, my review is in video format so check it out below. I realized after that my big fluffy afro didn’t quite make it into the frame, I was trying to show y’all how much my hair has grown since I had to cut it in December but here ya go, enjoy.
