OOTD: Wayne Marshall Tru Colours Album Showcase

Posted by on in Fashion, Jamaica | 0 comments

I attended the Wayne Marshall Tru Colours album showcase held recently at Triple Century Sports Bar where he gave us a few hits from his new album Tru Colours. This is not a review of the album but more of a style diary however I will say that I loved the energy on stage and the growth shown in his musical career over the years. As a long time fan of his music, I was well entertained. His 8 year old son Giomar who DJs on the hit Stupid Money showed great talent and if he continues in music as he grows he will be a superstar maybe even more than his dad. Tessanne and Agent Sasco also performed the remix to Everything Reminds Me of You from Tessanne’s album coming out of her “The Voice” win and I thoroughly enjoyed that performance as well. Love both artists. Can’t deny that dancehall veteran Bounty Killa also ripped the stage with a high energy performance of his feature on Wayne Marshall’s Go Hard. I love when Bounty does this kind of a performance, no long talking straight energy.

IrieDiva in San Diego

Posted by on in Travel | 0 comments

You may or may not know that last week I took a vacation with my family to San Diego, California! It was an awesome feeling to go somewhere new and experience different things, while having the familiarity of still being in the USA and so still shopping at our favourite stores and eating at our favourite restaurants. Visiting Seaworld was a highlight for me, even though it rained and so it was cold and dreary for a good part of the day. I’m happy I didn’t let that get my spirit down as there was a point where I really wanted to throw the bucket in and call it a day but we stuck it out and had major fun!

The Yaad Style Menu at Usain Bolt Tracks and Records

Posted by on in Jamaica | 0 comments

When’s the last time you went to Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records? It’s a sports bar in Marketplace that offers what they call a “fusion” menu of Jamaican and International food items. That means you might get our traditional Ackee and Saltfish wrapped up in an Asian spring roll or something like that. Awesome spot for catching a game, seeing your favourite artist up close and personal or hanging out with friends over a cocktail or two. I’ve even seen tourist buses pulling up to the spot to introduce visitors to Usain’s restaurant where they can purchase memorabilia of our great living legend while sampling some of Jamaica’s food offerings.  Which brings me to a sore point. If you’ve been to Tracks before, say anytime before the last 6 months or so, you know….you KNOW…. the food ain’t all that. So when they reached out to me to try their new menu items? I said a little prayer for me.

Natural Hair IG Reviews: Giovanni Leave-In and Jane Carter Curl Defining Cream

While I do have a youtube channel and dabble a bit in vlogging, blogging is my true passion for now and might not change anytime soon. It seems however that I’ve found a way to incorporate videos into my regular blogging routine via 15 second reviews of products that I use! My first video was so well received that I decided to do a second one and now I’m sharing them with you here. I won’t be sharing them all on the blog though, this is just to introduce you to this new feature and so I encourage you to follow me on Instagram if you’re not already doing so.

#traveltuesday: Bamboo Blu Ocho Rios Jamaica

Posted by on in Jamaica | Comments Off

Ever so often I wish I were a travel blogger, jetsetting to exotic locations courtesy of Tourist Boards or fabulous hotels and maybe one day that will happen but for now I’m lucky to #livewhereyouvacation and so I have lots to explore right here on my island paradise. This past weekend friends and I went to Bamboo Blu in Ocho Rios to celebrate a birthday. It’s a restaurant that I have heard of a couple times but never been and so I thought I’d share the experience with you. It’s located right on the beach next to Riu Hotel in Mammee Bay and within the confines of the Mammee Bay Estate. You’ll need to make a reservation to gain access to the property but there’s no hassle to get in, set up and relax. And the beach is gorgeous.

Iriediva’s Summer Salad

Posted by on in Health | Comments Off

It’s been well over two years since I discovered Food Basket Farm delivery service and I’ve been a loyal customer of their’s ever since. You can’t beat their prices on fresh, organic produce straight from the hills of Jamaica delivered to your door! My most common purchases from them are kale, spinach and their mixed salad greens. I use them in my daily green smoothies however I have been having a lot of prepackaged salads lately and so I decided it was time to start making my own, especially since store-bought salads are primarily made of iceberg lettuce and you know how I feel about that.

IrieDiva Summer Salad

Enter, my summer salad that got so many likes, comments and requests for the recipe on Instagram that I just had to share it with my blog readers as well. Made with primarily Jamaican ingredients, this salad was delicious and infinitely healthier than any store bought salad for sure. My mother watched keenly as I made it because she wants to be healthier and said she wanted to learn. I said “Mom, this isn’t learned, this is imagined” I imagined the flavours that I wanted to taste and threw them all into a salad. In my salads I like sweet, crunchy, salty and filling and I imagined the kinds of ingredients that would accomplish this goal. In my salad went:

I had a perfect weekend last weekend, it made me want to live EVEN CLOSER to the beach. I know, we island people are so greedy. I only live 25 minutes away yet still. Anyhow, last weekend I went to visit my mom who lives near the tourist town of Ocho Rios. She was having a cookout for some family members we haven’t seen in a while and I brought a friend and her son with me. My mom, the lover of horses that she is arranged for a horseback riding trip as she does whenever visitors are around and a little time at the beach. So we had a full day of horsey adventure, beach time and the cookout planned on Sunday. But first, we went to the market to get everything for the cookout on Saturday.
