As I alluded to last week, I went ballistic and chopped off all my hair. It was the morning after Valentine’s day. I was trying to figure out what to do with my hair. My frustrations were raging as I knew anything I did with it would only last a day or two and then I’d be back at square one. I knew I was close to a big chop, but I figured I would go and get my favourite hairstyle done one more time as that one should last me about a week.

So I was trying to get ready to go but I was also battling another demon inside. I was trying to take control of several situations that I had allowed to spiral way too far outta control and I decided I needed to do something to take back the reins. That something was staring back at me in the mirror. I said fine, I’ll go to the hairdresser and let her cut it. But even that seemed like me giving control over to someone else. I wanted an immediate solution. I decided it really couldn’t be that bad if I chopped it off myself.

Hey guys, are you yet using things from your kitchen in your beauty regimen? It’s so amazing to me that so many of the things already in my kitchen are so beneficial to my hair and I’ve been sleeping on them all. The natural hair gurus on Curly Nikki and Black Girl Long Hair have really opened my eyes. There was a post on CN yesterday that I think we all should bookmark as the information is invaluable! It speaks about 10 ingredients that naturally fight hyper-pigmentation and couldn’t come at a better time for me because I have a scar under my eyes from a pimple that I really need to leave my face the hell alone!

I took my little sis and my munchkin with me to Kingston Kitchen this past Sunday on what was touted to be a fabulous affair. I’ve been following the blog posts of the organisers and had a few chefs and delights I wanted to try out. Plus it was on the lawns of the Hope Botanical Gardens that’s really making a comeback to all my childhood glory. I’m so looking forward to when the zoo and maybe even the amusement park once again come alive. The gardens and lawns are absolutely gorgeous and I do hear that the zoo is undergoing renovation. No word on the theme park yet where I hold such dear childhood memories of nothing but thrilling fun! But I digress…

Funny how when you’re away from your country is when you do things that you don’t do when you’re at home to try and keep in the loop. Hubby commented recently that he didn’t realise I listened to Zip FM so much. I don’t usually listen to that radio station when I’m in JA as I’m not a fan of the ridiculous ads they run what seems like 500 million times for the day nor am I fan of just how much house/alternative/rock/spanish music they play. But, they stream for free online so whenever I’m home in the BVI, I’m probably listening to Zip. They keep my in the loop with what’s going on in Jamaica.
