Caribbean Fashion Week has come and gone and my, what a weekend! I’ll be doing highlight posts of each night and then breaking out into spotlights on some of my favourite lines from the show, so let’s get right into it!

Friday night was dubbed emerging designers night and saw many new designers mixed with a few familiar faces showing off their designs. I kept my outfit cute and casual for the opening night in a studded, oxblood, chiffon button-up with a bodycon skirt that’s not so bodycon anymore *hi5 for green smoothies*

Christina Goddard from Barbados gave me life with some of her pieces, this was one of my favourites of the night:

She also gave us men in underwear <3 I mean jackets, printed jackets

Mesmerizing…

Bayroc Clothing from the British Virgin Islands made a CFW debut with handpainted designs:

I appreciated the Jamaican themed design, an ode to the host nation. Classy! And it’s a lovely piece too the top is exquisite.

Amril Douglas from Tobago brought us a colourful, tropical line…

Although this dress gave me instant Zadd and Eastman flashbacks.

Kyu Melange from Kesi Gibson (Jamaica) and Ozge Turan (Turkey) brought us some fierce accessories! I love it! Incidentally, Kesi is an Ashe Performing Arts Alumni (as am I) and I was pleasantly surprised to see the direction she’s gone with her creativity. Can’t wait to bring you more details on this line!

My final favourite from the night were the twins from the twin nation (I never get tired of saying that) Wadada Movement of Trinidad and Tobago who showed at last year’s CFW and made a return to this year’s event. I just love the flowy nature of their line and the colours and patterns they paired.

The entertainment for the night was three very fashionable Jamaican acts who put on a good show. Machu Ezra, Voicemail and D-Major

  1. 1. Tassia’s skin is lovely!
    2. I like that I’m seeing several pieces that can actually be worn OFF the runway. You know how fashion shows can sometimes be full of crap.

  2. Thanks for opening the window to the fab nights of CFW. I especially like the photos of you hobnobbing!! Eh eh and you look slim, trim and curly. I love it all.

  3. I dont know but from what i’ve seen, the fashion this year seemed sub-par.

I guess i’m used to seeing outrageous couture on the runway but i guess designers are going for more runway to on the rack since couture hardly sells.

And the fashion of the patrons was blasphemus for a “Fashion Week” event.
I’ve seen some people in flat dutty foot slippaz, come on now.

    Go bold or go home.
