Jamaican Fashion Design: Ocean Floor by Jae Jolly
Another celebrated Jamaican fashion line this summer is the new swimwear collection from Jae Jolly called Ocean Floor. It is a trendy line featuring mixed prints, high slits, teeny bikinis and bold colours. Let’s jump right in
What makes this line so good is the mixing of the prints, the designer has a great eye for this. I’m not sold on the cover-ups. The first blue one is my favourite because the print is so vivid but the cuts aren’t all that exciting to me. Take a look at the others in the line and tell me if you share my opinion, not all of them are featured here. I’m totally in love with the bikinis however. They’re very unique and would for sure stand out at this summer’s hottest beach parties. Unless of course they go into mass production, Jamaica is but so very small. I’m sure however that the designer has no intention of doing that.
Nothing for my full-figured ladies, not seeing anything that I could personally wear, maybe I could ask for alterations on the monokini even though I get the feeling this designer isn’t too keen on alterations (I’ve inquired before) but everything ain’t for everybody. The styling for the photoshoot was fabulous, that half turban on the monokini is fire and I am not a fan of anything called turbans.
I’ve had my eye on this designer for some time as the pieces that come out each year have been very creative. This line is a favourite of mine from her and a great representation of Jamaican fashion. I feel like we’re definitely upping the ante on our fashion scene, would you agree?
Do you love it?
