Lubica launches new line

I am a fan of Lubica’s designs. She really knows her way ’round some jersey material. Her signature style of jersey dresses with a bold applique continues in her work. I saw some updates floating across my twitter timeline that she recently launched a new line so I headed over to her website to see what was new. Allow me to share with you my favourite pieces from her.

One of my favourite pieces. I’ve said a million times that lace is big for the summer and this easy breezy piece is an excellent way to rock it. Bold colour, easy to accessorize for added glam and you can belt it to turn up the sexy. I wouldn’t but it can be done.

Another favourite of mine. Truth be told I only own one maxi dress, I’m not their biggest fan but this low cut one is very pretty. I’d wear with my corset bra to add some boobilage.

Make sure you have this shape when you rock this dress. Va va voom! There was another variation of colour with shorter sleeves as well.

Colour-blocking anyone? Cool linen pants and a jersey top make for a fashionable outing.

Chic. Not for me but I see an Anna Wintour or a Novia McDonald-White rocking this piece. It has that eclectic feel.

Hot. Rihanna would rock out in this huh. Or Tami Chynn when she does some more racy songs.

This maxi dress is my kinda colour blocking. If of course I wore more maxi dresses. Too much damn material but this one is super cute. I’d request it shorter.

Have you ever though to wear a cropped top this way? Fabulous.

Another favourite of mine. Now this dress I’d love to wear. I love voluminous sleeves.

So those were my faves from the two most recent lines on her website, go on over to view the rest.

The designer herself. I interviewed her for once for my former website www.fashionoverstyle.net but we won’t get into the heartbreak that caused me to lose all my info. Here’s an excerpt from that old interview, it was done in 2008 and this was her telling me how she got started in fashion:

i always loved fashion since i was a little girl. My mom always let me choose my outfits and only if i looked absolutely ridiculous would she make me change! but i got a hang of it from quite early age and always tried to come up with something new.. and i always wanted to shock people with what i had on. i just wanted to look different. and i must say sometimes people did look at me funny!!! 🙂
everyone always told me that i should do somehting in the fashion industry… and i tried to ingore it.. but it just made sense in the end… and it felt right.. and everything happened so naturaly… its like the universe was trying to tell me that this is the right way to go…

Back then she was mostly doing crochet bikinis and was just beginning to dabble in clothing. She also revealed that her name is pronounced “Lubitsa”  and hails from Slovakia, was schooled in Canada and now calls Jamaica home. From her website:

Lubica playfully expresses her love of the tropics through her creative use of color, hand embellishments and appliques, materials and silhouette in her clothing line. Her signature flower appliqué and excellent color blocking are just some of the features that define her elegant resort wear.

As I work on rebuilding my blog, I’m sure the next time there’s a launch my invite will land in my inbox 😀
