Over the recent holiday weekend celebrating our National Heroes, the inaugural staging of the Jamaica Bridal Expo was held at the Montego Bay Convention Center and I was invited to attend by the Jamaica Tourist Board. It was a truly great opportunity to market Jamaica as the perfect destination wedding spot and I have a million posts coming up about my whole weekend experience. I was part of a small group of media that was invited to cover the event and to hit several wedding destinations and attractions.
There was also a group of travel agents from around the world in attendance, also hosted by the JTB. The expo showcased everything from makeup artists and shops, chocolatiers, wedding and honeymoon locations, attractions and activities to do while in Jamaica, bridal shops, fashion designers, weddings singers, hosts, DJs and other entertainment, photographers, tent and equipment providers and even Playboy had a booth! I won a gift basket from them with their new fragrance. 😀
Moroccan decor by Jan’s Flowers. This was absolutely beautiful, so vibrant! As a colour lover myself, I could totally see myself going with such a theme. This was the first display as we got to the Montego Bay Convention Center. By the way, what a fancy shmancy convention center we have!!! I can totally see it as a wedding location even though it’s a convention center as it is beautiful inside and out and the sea views are amazing!
Here’s Minister McNeil checking out the Mobay Chocolate Company.
I behaved myself and only tried the cherry chocolates which were so yummy…maaan.
As I walked by, a makeup artist came over to compliment my blue hair and the conversation evolved into me sitting in her chair getting made over:
What do you think of the end result? I love how it matches my hair. 😀 She used Iman clay 5 on me and medium-brown powder to finish. I’ve been a fan of Iman but I found they’re new lines to not match me well. Maybe I’ll try them again…
I also ran into Marcellas James, the designer behind Cinderalla’s Hats wearing my favourite hat from their Jamaica 50 line! I would have demanded she hand it over immediately but she was looking so cute in her outfit hehe!
She showed off her new line of bridal fascinators, headbands, corsages and hand jewels:
Bliss Bridal Boutique was represented again, you would have remembered them from my post on Kingston Bridal Week. They once again had a dress on display that I thought was absolutely gorgeous! Theyre definitely cemented in my mind as the go-to boutique if I ever need to go dress shopping.
I love a good princess frock. A one Mrs. Kerry-Ann Pearcy from the Sweetest Regards booth promised to help me find a new hubby, so I’m gonna hold her to that! Her spread looked great for different styles of wedding cakes and I loved the photo-book. I did a photo-book for munchkin’s first year of life and definitely plan to keep them coming. Great way to pack in the million digital photos we take everyday eh! No need to pick out the best and be limited by the cost of a number of printed photos anymore!
The Playboy ladies that I won my perfume and body spray from ^_^
I love the idea of the expo and bringing in travel agents, wedding planners and media to cover it every year and really hope it does well and takes off as a premiere event in trade show calendars. I was introduced to some truly fabulous locations who will get their own post in the days to come as I couldn’t pack everything in here. This was just a general overview of the expo itself and a BIG thank you to the JTB for hosting me! Please follow @weddingsinja and @visitjamaicanow to stay on top of Jamaican tourist news and specials! More photos from the expo can be viewed on the Visit Jamaica Facebook page.
