15 Flirty, Dramatic and Trendy Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas Under $40

It’s time for love day! What are your plans, where are you going, what will you be doing? Luckily here in Jamaica, we’re not yet bombarded with all the Valentine’s Day promotions in the stores but oh the ads have been circulating and I’m excited!
Whether you have a boo or not or you’re celebrating or not, Valentine’s Day can be a fun day and a fun day needs fun outfit ideas! I am always down for a reason to dress up and would wear the cheesiest outfits to office back in the day.
I’ve been guilty of delivering a very corny but oh so cute teddy bear, red and white mug and box of chocolate gift basket to my ex way back when. It was the kind of cheesy gift that ladies send to themselves so they’re not left out of the Vday festivities in a corporate setting and I ain’t mad! I just wish I was there to see his face when the red and white glory landed on his desk and his coworkers surrounded him with queries and looks.
Anyhoo let’s get to these ideas I dug up. I’m going casual and trendy with the first outfit in case you’re doing something super-light like lunch with the boo or the girls. I am crushing on this top in every way and need it in every colour. I have already ordered it in blush and now want the white and the blue. How cute is it? (You can click all images for buying info)
Here again is a very cute jumpsuit with a dramatic ruffle going down the side. I did promise drama. This jumpsuit will show every curve while still being rather demure and classy for a night out on the town.
If you liked the idea of the dramatic jumpsuit but wanted to wear a skirt instead or you’re like me and hate having to get practically naked to use the bathroom in jumpsuit pieces then this blue top will do the trick. I love the rosette design on the sleeve. I think this top is so sexy without being revealing.

Here’s a dress version, if you’re more inclined, that brings the same killer drama and will have all eyes on your upon entering any room.

Let’s get into some bodycon love. Flaunt every curve of your body in this hot number that can work from day to night if you add a jacket over it. The gold piping draws attention to your waist and accentuates a woman’s soft curves very nicely. Do you like?
This dress is for my casual boho chic ladies. This is totally a piece I would wear to an outdoor event like a beach vibe or park picnic. I’m always appreciative of anything light that keeps me nice and cool here in Jamaica.
Are you ready for the drama? Oh, I’m bringing it. This piece is for the woman who wants aaaallllll the attention. It’s giving me all the theatrics of a full-bodied dress but the front totally gives way to a revealing lace number that will make boo’s draw drop to the floor! Bring the va-va-voom.
More drama please! This gold number also turns up the heat as it’s covered in sequins plus it’s got a feather hem! Do you need a feather hem? Duh! It comes in other colours too but I thought you’d feel more like money in the gold.
Ok ok, let’s turn things back down a notch. This cold-shoulder dress is totally a dress I would wear out on a date with… say someone new? Someone I was just getting to know? I would also wear it if I was invited to a Vday themed event in a corporate setting or had a school event with my munchkin.
Here’s another romper set up that I’d wear if I were maybe invited to some kind of Valentine’s Day mixer or singles event. Can also work if you’re going out to hang with the girls on Valentine’s weekend or if your date for Vday is your kid like mine totally will be.
Love a cultural piece? Love everything dashiki? This dress is a smashing way to make a statement on love day. Valentine’s Day is in Black History Month after all and there will be a few such themed events to attend. Though I wear dashiki any chance I get because it’s just so beautiful a print.
This caged piece is so haute! It doesn’t need any intro
My recent floral dress similar to this one got rave reviews. Here’s another version if you were hoping to find the dress without the backless setup I have going on in mine. It’s a beautiful dress for an afternoon event or to hang out at brunch with the ladies.

I have two versions of this dress, the black just like this and a printed version. I love them both because the faux-wrap design accentuates the curves I want to put on display while keeping others under wraps. My plussize ladies will love this dress for all these reasons and more.

One more for plussized women is this red-hot off shoulder number with peplum waist. If you’re a mini lover liek myself and love shwoing off them legs, this number is for you! It comes in other colours too but dare to be dashing in the red, won’t you?
Did you see anything you liked? All these outfits believe it or not are all under $40 currently. I tried to provide a wide array of options no matter what type of Vday you’re having or what your personal style is like. Let me know how I did in the comments and share this post with your gals!
