What Shoes to Wear with a White Dress
Hello reader, today I’m answering the question of what shoes to wear with a white dress. I’m doing so while wearing my favorite frilly white dress and a pair of killer heels. This is one of those dresses that make me feel fierce! It’s off-shoulder again, (sorry, not sorry) and so simple yet so chic that it makes me feel amazing when I step out in it. I am totally feeling my frilly little white dress!
In this post you'll find:
My Frilly Little White Dress
It was made locally by Mac’s Couture, a seamstress close to my home in Kingston, making a variety of very flowy pieces for me. You can view her Instagram here and get in touch.
I feel like a flamenco dancer in this dress, ready to snap my fingers and light up the dancefloor. Never mind that I’ve never flamenco danced before. I chose to keep the bodice of the dress straight instead of curve-hugging in order to remain comfortable in it, especially for date night. To keep it sexy though I requested a high hemline to show off my gams.
But let’s get to why you’re here, these heels! No boring nude pumps here! These gorgeous blue strappy satin high heels are now unavailable as I took these pictures in 2016. Here’s what I’d purchase if I were wearing this outfit today.
These green heels with a square toe and thong straps are so trendy right now. I love them! As you can tell, I am a fan of wearing color to contrast with white dresses but that doesn’t have to be the case. Let’s look at all the options available when wearing yours.
What Shoes to Wear with a White Dress
Selecting the right pair of shoes to complement a white dress is a fashion decision that can significantly impact your overall look and style. White dresses are timeless and versatile, suitable for a wide range of occasions, from casual meetups and running errands to formal events. They serve as a canvas upon which you can create a variety of fashion statements, but the key to a polished and cohesive ensemble lies in choosing the perfect shoes.
Let’s go through the various options you have. Whether you’re dressing up for a wedding, a casual weekend brunch, or a day at the office, I’ll help you make informed choices that enhance your outfit and reflect your unique sense of style.
When it comes to white dresses, the options for shoe styles are delightfully diverse, allowing you to create a look that suits your personal style and the occasion. Here, I will explore some popular shoe styles that pair harmoniously with white dresses:
A. Classic Elegance: Neutral Pumps
White dresses and neutral pumps are a timeless combination. Nude or beige pumps elongate the legs and create a clean, sophisticated look. This is ideal for formal events, business meetings, or when you want to exude timeless elegance.
B. Casual Chic: Sandals, Sneakers, and Espadrilles
For a relaxed, laid-back vibe, consider sandals, sneakers, or espadrilles. White dresses with espadrilles radiate a breezy summer feel. Sneakers provide a sporty contrast, perfect for a casual day out or a youthful look.
Formal Affairs: Strappy Heels or Dressy Flats
When attending a formal event, strappy heels or dressy flats are excellent choices. Strappy heels add a touch of glamour, especially with a maxi or cocktail white dress. Dressy flats offer comfort while maintaining a polished appearance.
D. Bohemian Vibes: Ankle Boots and Wedges
Embrace the boho chic look by pairing white dresses with ankle boots or wedges. Ankle boots lend a hint of edge and are great for transitioning to fall. Wedges provide comfort and style, especially for outdoor gatherings.
Choosing the right shoe style depends on your personal preferences and the event’s dress code. Whether you opt for classic pumps, casual sneakers, formal heels, or bohemian boots, your choice should align with your fashion sensibilities and the overall vibe you wish to convey with your white dress ensemble.
